Over the last few years, we have noticed a broad set of changes in the way many of our candidates approach work and their careers. So back in January 2008, we commissioned a survey in partnership with Management Today of over 1,000 people to find out what motivates different generations in the workplace.
We discovered that Generation Y, those born after 1982, were having a profound effect on the world of work. Their ambition and demand for a healthy balance between work and life are changing the way all of us view our careers. The nine to five office job with suit, tie and company car is dead. Instead, we are increasingly looking to build a portfolio career that takes in different job roles, functions and even industries.
