Finding a new direction – from Business Analyst to Strategy Consultant
Fraser came to work with FreshMinds as a Business Analyst straight out of Cambridge University, having been recommended to FreshMinds by a friend who had worked as a Mind. In this role he led a 10 month project developing an internal work flow management system gaining experience in business modelling and financial analysis along the way. Fraser then enjoyed the challenge of being a Mind - one placement saw him help develop business plans for a major new leisure and scientific centre in the UK.
Fraser had always wanted to pursue a career in brand strategy, so in 2005 he joined a leading consultancy’s Strategy and Analytics team. In this role he gained exposure to a variety of sectors and a broad range of disciplines including brand positioning, brand valuation and customer insight. He even directed a consumer innovation project for a well-known chocolate brand. After only one year of employment Fraser was promoted to consultant – a real testament to his success.
After nearly two years with this company, Fraser decided that he wanted to continue in brand strategy but in a more quantitative environment. So, further down his career, he contacted FreshMinds for advice. We successfully placed Fraser in a Strategy Consultant role with a global consultancy known for its rigorous approach to branding. His new role has provided him with the opportunity to learn quantitative analysis skills which, combined with his previous design-led experience, should prove invaluable in his future career.
And, to complete the circle, he recently hired a Mind from us to help his team with a large and complex data analysis project for a leading high street bank!
